Shreveport: Full of Southern Culture
Shreveport is the third-largest city in the state of Louisiana and the 113th largest city in the United States. Northwest Louisiana supports a large and sophisticated healthcare sector, a competitive manufacturing base, a reenergized oil and gas sector and supplies network, a transforming timber/paper industry, a hospitality/gaming industry, federal installations, and more. Shreveport is home to several theatres, museums, and performing arts groups, including The Stand Theatre, the Southern Museum of Art, and the Shreveport Metropolitan Museum. Shreveport also features many events such as the Highland Jazz & Blues Festival, the Louisiana Film Prize, and of course, Mardi Gras, which began in Shreveport in the mid-19th century when parade krewes were organized along the lines of those in New Orleans. For outdoor enthusiasts, Shreveport has a fantastic Parks & Recreation Department, which facilitates everything from community centers and neighborhood playgrounds to bike paths and major parks. Shreveport has something to offer everyone!
